Residents and Family Members,
We continue to be COVID free on the Campus. Our employees who were isolating at home have returned and we are happy to have them back. No other issues or concerns with staff have been identified in the last week and we continue with the daily assessment of staff upon their arrival at work to include temperature. We have received nor have any referrals for any individuals who were in the hospital and have tested positive. As of Tuesday, there are 3 individuals reported in Parkview and 0 in St Mary Corwin who have tested or suspected to have COVID.
Last Friday, CMS provided two updates for COVID related to nursing homes. In the first, consistent with CMS’ commitment to transparency, reported COVID19 NHSN data (directed data base for collecting information) for viewing by nursing home residents and families, facilities, stakeholders, and the general public. The NHSN COVID-19 information will be posted on June 4th, 2020, on the Nursing Home Compare home page, in the “Spotlight” section, and will be updated on a weekly basis. The information can also be accessed at https://data.cms.gov/Covid19-nursing-home-data starting on June 4th, 2020.
The second update addresses CMS longstanding commitment to transparency and posts state inspection findings and reports on the Nursing Home Compare website. Inspections conducted on or after March 4, 2020, including complaints, facility-reported incidents (FRIs) and infection control checks, will be available through a link on the Nursing Home Compare homepage. The webpage will include a spreadsheet listing each health inspection conducted, the facility’s demographic information, and findings (i.e. citations) from the inspection. This information will be posted on the Nursing Home Compare home page, in the “Spotlight” section and will be updated monthly.
Both of the messages relate to increased oversight we are receiving and it is welcomed to see our hard work and dedication to our residents being shared with the families. After review, if you have any questions, please reach out to me, Christine or Tiffany.
Finally, CDPHE staff (our state agency) continue to review facility plans in response to the Public Health Order 20-20. The initial plan review assesses the adequacy and responsiveness of each facility plan. Facilities that submitted plans that are either incomplete or do not fully address the elements required are provided may receive technical assistance and/or additional guidance. The plans may also be used as part of future inspections related to infection control. As the facility isolation plans are public record, they have been made available online at https://covid19.colorado.gov/prevention-response-plans.
The last week has implemented several new information sources for your review and insight into our actions to comply with COVID requirements. Again, if you have any questions after review, please let us know. We are in the process of adding a link to our home page to access this letter. I will keep you informed of our progress in this regard and when you will be able to access the document. If there is a specific topic you like me to address, please let me know via email or at 719-544-1173.
Sincerely,
Keith Jackson
