Residents and Family Members,

Some days it seems like an eternity since CMS restrictions for the campus when into effect on 13 Mar and other days it is a blink of an eye.  We continue to be COVID free on the campus as the state is seeing an increase in cases.  Over the last week the trend in Pueblo county is showing a rise in positive cases.    The hospital census reported has increased slightly with as many as 8 in the last week to currently 6 positive or presumptive COVID patients reported in Parkview and 0 in St Mary Corwin.

Of concern is the number of outbreaks in our area.  In the last 5 weeks 7 additional outbreaks have been reported for Pueblo county bringing the total to 12 since April.  None of the 7 have occurred in health settings but in local businesses/government offices.  However, the concern is the widespread of the disease makes all of us more suspectable and therefore has the potential to increase our risk both with staff who are active in our community as well as visitors interacting with loved ones.  This is why we continue to stress self-monitoring for symptoms (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea).  Staff are monitored for this daily and are not permitted to remain at work if any of the symptoms are present.  I ask that you monitor and apply the same rules for your visits to help us continue to keep all as healthy as possible on the campus.

To visit remotely, additional communication methods are available so contact the facility to arrange a video call, telephone call or use the care mail feature found on our home page.  Families that have used care mail have impacted their loved ones lives with their notes and pictures.  We will also increase the use of our Facebook page to share more pictures of the resident’s daily lives when possible.

Broken record time–we still have no update for our beautician services on campus and continue to coordinate our desire with the same practices in place for our staff to resume these services.  If you would like to contact your state representatives to share your thoughts and request they pass the information to the Governor’s office, this may be helpful having another perspective of the impact of this decision.  We will continue to update the status as changes are made.

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson

Executive Director
