Residents and Family Members,

We continue to be COVID free on the campus.  This week the county report we received included a month by month total of positive cases.  In May 151 new cases were reported, 84 in Jun, and 211 in July.  We appreciate the care taken by our families who have visited since we began the outdoor visits for complying with screening requirements, wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing during the visits, and of course the never-ending hand washing!  Your efforts have been significant in keeping the campus free from the infection.    The hospital census is currently 3 positive or presumptive COVID patients reported in Parkview and 0 in St Mary Corwin.  At the end of last week 2 new outbreaks were reported in Pueblo, both at non-health care related organizations.

Nursing staff has coordinated with the state laboratory to access supplies and been contacted by the CDC to discuss our request and verify our order.  Currently, we have not received any supplies for the testing.  Guidance continues to be fluid and CDC guidance is now focused on recurring testing at facilities with outbreaks and is no longer recommending monitored testing per guidance from last month.  We will continue to review guidance as it is issued with our focus remaining on the safe care and well being of our campus residents and staff.

Our activity departments have increased the out of room activities to include on-site musicians (outdoor only with social distancing) as well as other innovative ideas to work to bring the spark back to resident life on campus.  We are always open to suggestions for ideas that we may try or modify that will improve the daily lives of our residents.  Please reach out to the activity directors with any ideas you may have—they are really smart but have not cornered all the good ideas yet!

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson

Executive Director
