Residents and Family Members,
For staff and residents at Chateau, we have increased our testing from weekly to every 2-3 for all negative residents and staff members. Our tests are processed through the state laboratory and we have turn around time of approximately 48 hours. At the time of this letter, we have 13 positive residents with 1 resident transferred to the hospital for higher level care. There are currently 5 staff members who have tested positive and remain in isolation at home.
In the past week Pueblo has seen an increase in positive test results. Including Chateau, 5 facilities had outbreaks in the last week. This includes three health care communities. Positives for the month of Oct through Oct 6th are 79. Also, Parkview Hospital has 10 COVID positive patients.
The following information has been shared with media as they request:
The Chateau at Sharmar Village has placed isolation practices at the fore front of our resident care practices since the start of COVID restrictions announced in March. We closely coordinate with the state and county health departments to implement CDC and state guidelines to manage daily operations. Following stringent testing requirements, COVID has been identified for some of our staff and residents. At the present time, none of our residents have required hospitalization for COVID and many state that they do not feel ill. Chateau follows protocols directed by the local health department in accordance with CDC guidelines to stem the transmission of the infection as quickly as possible. We continue to monitor staff daily and residents twice a day for any new onset of symptoms. Chateau has a good supply of personal protective equipment and the local health department has been extremely supportive in ensuring we maintain the appropriate supply. Chateau is currently on lockdown status and will continue to assist residents with video chats with their loved ones.
Our Mission Is To SERVE OTHERS and that is shown daily by our staff who have excelled in this challenging time. They demonstrate the dedication and commitment to our residents as they provide care and ensure the well-being of everyone at the Chateau.
At this time, we continue to see no symptoms at the Care Center. No staff who work in Chateau have been shared with the Care Center. Christine and her staff continue with monitoring and suggestions provided by the Health Department will be shared and implemented in the Care Center as well to improve our monitoring of residents.
Finally, we will be implementing a new program for daily contact with our family members of the COVID positive residents. We are working to establish our process and have set a goal to have this new process initiated by Friday. For other family members, please contact the facilities with your questions and I appreciate your patience with our return calls to address your concerns or questions.
Please feel free to reach out if you have specific questions.
Sincerely,
Keith Jackson
Executive Director
