Residents and Family Members,

We continue to receive negative results for our testing of residents.  The last two weeks has identified 4 staff members who were positive staff were sent home upon identification of symptoms (2 were asymptomatic).  We are coordinating with the Health Department to resolve our outbreak.  The significance of this resolution is outdoor visits will be allowed to resume once resolution is declared.  We will send another email blast to our Chateau families when this occurs notifying you of the resumption.

Both sides of the campus are now testing twice a week per CDC and state guidance.  Residents new to the facility or who have been out of the facility in the previous 14 days are also tested.  A reminder the Governor’s office mandated quarantining of any resident for the duration of an outbreak if they refuse testing  (or 14 days if no outbreak) and for staff to be out for a minimum of 28 days or the extent of the outbreak, whichever is longer.

Outbreaks have continued at 62 (no change) still active in the community with 9 of those being in health facilities/entities.  Positives for the November are 2854.  Parkview Hospital continues to have increase hospitalizations related to COVID with 96 cases as of yesterday while St Mary Corwin also has 10 COVID cases in their care.  Unfortunately, the death rate has increased this month with 26 of our community passing.  The biggest percentage of individuals passing has continued to be the age population we serve with 70% of the deaths in the ages of 70 and above.

Governor Polis news conference on 17 Nov (as provided by Pueblo County Sheriffs Office Emergency Operations Center):

The COVID-19 Dial that tells counties what restrictions are to be used for their citizens, will undergo another change.  They will be adding an additional level.  A new level, “Purple” will now be added and associated with complete “Stay at Home” like we experienced earlier this year.  The red zone will now be considered the last step before “Stay at Home”.

With the ever-rising positive cases in the state and in particular in many of the counties of Colorado, the governor is moving several counties into the “RED ZONE” of the Colorado COVID-19 Dial.  He has not, as of this email, named any of the counties that will be moving to Red.  He did say that the main reason to move from Orange to Red is if hospital capacities are being pushed to critical.  Some of the restrictions mentioned for Red include:

  • NO indoor Dining
  • NO bars (that do not have outdoor dining ability)
  • Gyms reduced to 10% operating capacity

Please contact the facilities with your questions and I appreciate your patience with our return calls to address your concerns or questions.

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson

Executive Director
