Residents and Family Members,
Not much has changed regarding vaccination rates, infection rates or cases in the last week. Cases have been below the trend line of the last month but just minimally below. There has been a 40% increase in COVID hospitalizations last week compared to the week before.
Discussion of a booster has started with the State Health Department, and we are working with their staff to determine if we will have an on-site clinic or if we will utilize the community capability for the booster. Our 8th month for many in the Care Center is September while October is the 8th month at Chateau. More to come on this as we learn the expectations and capabilities to provide the booster.
Active outbreaks have remained dropped to 10 still active in the community with one of those being in health facilities/entities. The last identified outbreak was on 8/18 at a care setting. Daily positives have been trending up since the beginning of the month and through 18 Aug 326 positives have been reported while the rolling average for positive results for individuals tested in the last 7 days, decreased to 8% from 12% according to the county report. Parkview Hospital hospitalizations related to COVID is currently 33 cases while St Mary Corwin has 0 COVID case in their care. Parkview reported occupancy at 216 (capacity) while St Mary Corwin is reporting 54 for occupancy. This leaves 15 available beds between the hospitals.
Looking at the county positives from the latest report provided on 18 August, there were 146 positives in the previous week with 32 of those being in the age groups of 60 and above, of which there were 2 deaths in the 80+ age group. At present, one resident in the Care Center is not fully vaccinated and three staff joined our team in the past week who are working on the vaccination series. As a reminder, if you feel you may have any of the symptoms, no matter how minor, please don’t visit until the symptoms have passed our you have tested and received a negative result. As we learned late last year, the virus spreads quickly in our settings once in the door and your assistance in reducing the likelihood of the virus affecting our residents is greatly appreciated.
