Residents and Family Members,
Earlier this week State Health Officials directed vaccination in our setting. While this has no impact for Sharmar as we mandated the vaccination last winter, it will impact the ability for us to attract and hire staff as this is implemented due to those who leave the profession due to not wanting the vaccination. The state has directed the first shot by 30 Sep and those who chose not to receive the vaccination will not be allowed to work in our setting. Sharmar is already in competition for limited availability of staff and this will increase the challenges in staffing our campus.
Per CDC data from the previous week, the county currently has 52% of eligible individuals fully vaccinated. State officials contacted the Care Center regarding the booster vaccination. We have requested clinic dates of 6, 7 or 8 Oct and support to provide the vaccination. We will utilize the local community for boosters for Chateau once we have individuals eligible.
Active outbreaks have remained dropped to 12 still active in the community with one of those being in health facilities/entities. The last identified outbreak was on 8/25 at the jail. Daily positives have been trending up since the beginning of the month and through 25 Aug 522 positives have been reported while the rolling average for positive results for individuals tested in the last 7 days remained at8% according to the county report. Parkview Hospital hospitalizations related to COVID is currently 34 cases while St Mary Corwin has 0 COVID case in their care. Parkview reported occupancy at 211 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 50 for occupancy. This leaves 24 available beds between the hospitals.
