13 Oct 21
Residents and Family Members,
We continue with twice weekly 100% testing for residents and staff at Chateau. We have all negative results from testing performed on 5 & 8 Oct, submitted testing yesterday and will perform what we believe to be our last round of 100% testing on 15 Oct. With all negative results, we will be able to exit outbreak testing (we are not in outbreak but test requirements directed as if we were). Testing for any unvaccinated residents (first 2 weeks after admission) and staff continues twice a week for Sharmar. In addition, these individuals are tested daily with our antigen testing ability.
The COVID booster clinic occurred on Friday, 8 Oct. This was contracted by the State and was a struggle. The process requested we complete on-line reservations however the team did not arrive for several hours after the first “appointment”. Despite several follow up communications with the coordinators, the team who arrived was unaware of both Sharmar and Chateau needs. All residents at Sharmar who desired a shot received the vaccine. For Chateau, they invoked a limitation based on first letter of last name for who they would vaccinate. This was never coordinated with the facility and we will therefore work to schedule a follow up clinic for those who were not provided the vaccination. More to follow as we get information for the clinic.
The following data is reported on the 6 Oct update. Active outbreaks have increased by another 3 to 21 active in the community with three new outbreaks in health facilities reported. Daily positives for September were 1,532 and through 6 Oct were 251 positives. The rolling average for positive results for individuals tested from 9/30-10/6 was 13.3%. Parkview Hospital hospitalizations related to COVID is currently 52 cases while St Mary Corwin has 7 COVID case in their care. Parkview reported occupancy at 192 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 52 for occupancy. This leaves 41 available beds between the hospitals.
Reviewing CDC COVID data for Pueblo County, cases have increased 22% in the last week. Positivity has shown a minimal increase with testing increasing by .6% to 8.3%. New hospitalizations increased by 40%, beds in use remained increased 2% with ICU bed usage stayed flat. Vaccinations for all county residents increased to 53.4% of residents with one does and 48.4% fully vaccinated.
