Residents and Family Members,

We are continuing our outbreak testing as directed under state guidance for the Care Center.  Our second round of testing was all negatives, and the third round will occur on Friday.  We did have a staff member reported as positive however the state lab re-tested the sample and returned a negative result.  Our testing has continued to be all negative for Chateau.

We have been using a local pharmacy and the fair grounds for our on-going vaccinations.  New staff agree to receiving the vaccination upon hire however due to other mandated testing and vaccination requirements are not eligible to receive a dose for approximately 3 weeks after hire.  We have been able in the last two weeks to get most of our residents who need the second vaccination or to start the series administered and will follow up for the second shot when necessary.  Those who had the first round at the local pharmacy were provided a follow up appointment 28 days after first injection to complete the series.  For those that we are utilizing the fairgrounds are on the same 21 day cycle we followed for the facility clinics.

Reminder to utilize outings as a visitation option as the weather improves.  The requirement is to visit with the resident off campus so a short walk in the neighborhood is an option if you have not been able to visit as frequently as desired.  Please let us know in advance if you would like to exercise the option for outings so we can ensure medication and meals are addressed to support the outing.

Active outbreaks have increased and are at 48 (46 last week) still active in the community with 12 of those being in health facilities/entities (7 in the last week).  Seven new updates were identified last week with 5 being in health facilities.  Positives for May are 517.  The rolling average for positive results for individuals tested in the last 7 days decreased to 17.6%.    Parkview Hospital increased hospitalizations related to COVID with 38 cases while St Mary Corwin has no COVID cases in their care.  Parkview reported occupancy at 191 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 21 for occupancy.  This leaves 73 available beds between the hospitals.

This letter is provided electronically either through email or our website.  We do mail a copy the first week a new admit joins us if no email has been provided to share the information how to receive future copies via the website.  If you are not receiving by email and would like to do so, let us know your address.  Please contact the facilities with your questions.

Keith Jackson
