Results from last week’s testing in the Care Center resulted in 1 new resident and 5 additional employees testing positive. Ten residents and one staff member at Chateau have tested positive last week’s tests. Total positive cases to date for the Care Center is 40 residents and 35 staff members while at Chateau 51 residents and 31 staff members with one staff member testing positive twice and three residents now testing positive for the second time. One resident who was identified as positive with COVID have passed away in the past week.
Active outbreaks are at 126 (up from 118 last week) still active in the community with 20 of those being in health facilities/entities. Positives for December were 4219 and through yesterday January positives are 205. The December positives are approximately 2000 less than November. The number of tests performed have also declined since November when 4500-6000 tests per week were completed and in December numbers of tests per week dropped to 2300-4500 per week. Parkview Hospital decreased hospitalizations related to COVID with 60 cases as of yesterday while St Mary Corwin also has 3 COVID cases in their care. Yesterday Parkview reported occupancy at 188 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 13 for occupancy. This leaves 84 available beds between the hospitals.
I apologize for the confusion related to our vaccination clinics. The next clinics are scheduled as follows:
Sharmar Village Care Center—18 Jan 11a-5p
Chateau at Sharmar Village—20 Jan 11a-5p
The second vaccination will be provided for the Care Center staff/residents who participated in the 28 Dec clinic. For our clinic at Chateau, all eligible residents who desire the vaccine and approximately half of the staff will be vaccinated. As we learned at our first clinic, the criteria for the vaccine is at least 14 days since COVID positive, no symptoms to include temperature and consent for the vaccine. We will monitor for reaction after injection for 15-20 minutes and if no issues will then monitor with our normal practices.
As a reminder, the vaccine is at no cost, but the pharmacy will bill insurance for the actual injection. There is no cost to the recipient to receive the vaccine. A booster will be scheduled for approximately 3 weeks after the initial clinic. The vaccine being administered for both Chateau and the Care Center is provided by Pfizer.
Please contact the facilities with your questions and I appreciate your patience with our return calls to address your concerns or questions.
Sincerely,
Keith Jackson
Executive Director
