Residents and Family Members,

We continue to be COVID free on the Campus. No issues or concerns with staff or residents have been identified in the last week and we continue with the daily assessment of staff upon their arrival at work to include temperature.  We have not received any new referrals for an individual who was in the hospital and tested positive for COVID.  Currently, no change to the census in local hospitals of positive or presumptive COVID patients–3 individuals reported in Parkview and 0 in St Mary Corwin.

Great news on the visitation front.  The State has provided guidance for outside visits.  We will begin visitation on Saturday, 27 Jun from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.  The following process will be put into place to support the visits and will undoubtedly change as we get smarter and improve the process.  As it has been a while that you have had the opportunity to visit without a barrier, Sharmar Village will initially schedule visits for 15 minutes with no more than two visitors at a time.  We are limited to 8 individuals, including staff and residents, in the designated visiting area at Chateau and 7 at Sharmar Care Center based on current guidance from the State.  Contact the facility at 719-544-1173 to schedule your visit and we ask you only to schedule one visit per week to allow as many families to visit as possible.

  1. Please review this document from the CDC regarding symptoms and information addressing self-screening for the day of the visit as well as this document from the CDC regarding social distancing and mask-wearing. If you have any questions after review, please contact us prior to your visit.
  2. You will be met outside our main entrances for each facility by staff at your designated visit time. At this time, we will screen you for symptoms and perform temperature checks in accordance with current CDC guidelines.  Any visitor with symptoms in the previous 14 days will not be able to visit and any resident who is currently in isolation will not be able to participate in outdoor visits.
  3. All visitors must wear a face mask or cloth face covering. Please bring this with you as we continue to closely monitor our stock due to supplier limitations.
  4. All visitors will need to supply name and contact information should contact tracing become necessary.
  5. Our visitation areas are as follows: Chateau will visit outside the east entrance by the parking lot (screening to occur at the main entrance prior to visit); the Care Center will visit on the patio (screening will occur outside the area).
  6. To facilitate our ability to prepare for visits, we have removed much of the furniture so please bring your own chair if you desire to sit during your visit. Chairs in the area will be reserved for resident use.  If you bring a chair, please ensure you have cleaned & disinfected the item before entering the visitation area.

I understand there are many steps to accommodate your visit and appreciate your patience and understanding as we follow the guidance to support these outdoor visits.  I am confident our team of experts will become better at facilitating the visits and we will be able to improve our support to promote the success of the visit.

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson
