Residents and Family Members,

We are unable to get over the finish line to resolve our outbreak.  At the current pace of testing and delay in results, we get to approximately date 10 of the 15-day period and receive results of 1 -2 additional positives.  We learned yesterday that testing conducted last week had 2 new positives—one staff member and one resident in memory care; at this time, the remainder of Chateau is COVID free.   The staff member worked shifts prior to our discovering the positive result so we have several staff and residents who may be in the 14-day incubation period.  We will continue our frequent testing and today will participate in a new program with the state health department to utilize a lab designated specifically for facilities such as ourselves who require increased testing requirements.

Sharmar Care Center continues to be COVID free and we are testing weekly based on CDC guidelines related to the positivity rate in the county.

The county number of positives continues to grow with the latest report increasing by another 2% to 7.9% of tested individuals being positive.  Outbreaks have continued to escalate to include 35 still active in the community with 9 of those being in health facilities/entities.  Positives for the October are 1160.  For the first three days of November, 214 positive cases have been identified.  Parkview Hospital seen a significant increase in hospitalizations related to COVID increasing from 28 last week to 55 as of yesterday.  St Mary Corwin also has 3 COVID cases in their care.

Please coordinate with Lynnea at Chateau or Carlee at Sharmar if you would like to arrange a video chat.  I understand this may be frustrating trying to set up at times, but I ask you be patient with us while we coordinate these important opportunities to interface with your loved one.

Staff continue with a positive outlook and have continued to arrive for their assigned rotations.  We have been fortunate to not have issues in schools affect our staffing to date.  Our staff have worked hard to have backup plans to their back up plans if schools transition to on-line learning due to the infection so the staff member can continue to serve our residents.

Please contact the facilities with your questions and I appreciate your patience with our return calls to address your concerns or questions.

Sincerely,

Keith Jackson

Executive Director
