Residents and Family Members,

In the last week the CDC transmission risk map has shown an increase in high transmission risk to include Pueblo County upgrading from substantial to high risk.  The delta variant is the most common identified variant in the positives at greater that 99% of cases.

Active outbreaks have remained dropped to 7 still active in the community with none of those being in health facilities/entities.  The last identified outbreak was on 7/28 at a restaurant.  Daily positives have been trending up since the beginning of the month and through 12 Aug 180 positives have been reported while the rolling average for positive results for individuals tested in the last 7 days, increased to 12% from 9.8% according to the county report.  Parkview Hospital hospitalizations related to COVID is currently 24 cases (double from previous week) while St Mary Corwin has 0 COVID case in their care.  Parkview reported occupancy at 195 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 42 for occupancy.  This leaves 48 available beds between the hospitals.

Looking at the county positives from the latest report provided on 12 Aug, there were 150 positives in the previous week with 28 of those being in the age groups of 60 and above.  I would expect the ratio of positives in this area to potentially be higher as we are testing all non-vaccinated staff and resident’s daily resulting in quick identification of those who may be asymptomatic.   At present, we have no resident’s that are unvaccinated and one staff in each of our settings that are unvaccinated.  As a reminder, if you feel you may have any of the symptoms, no matter how minor, please don’t visit until the symptoms have passed our you have tested and received a negative result.  As we learned late last year, the virus spreads quickly in our settings once in the door and your assistance in reducing the likelihood of the virus affecting our residents is greatly appreciated.
