Residents and Family Members,

We are still testing twice a week for all staff and residents for Sharmar.  Currently, we have received the results from 3 rounds as we work through our testing to cover the 14-day incubation period of the virus.  We had the expected positive on our first round an all have been negative since.  We are back to normal visitation practices for the campus and are very appreciative of your understanding and recognize the disruption for both you and your loved one.

We have passed another milestone concerning vaccination as all staff were required to have the vaccination series completed or have a waiver by 31 Oct.  Beginning on the 1st, our new hires must all be fully vaccinated prior to starting with the organization.  We have one staff member and one contractor on campus who have medical exemptions.  All others have met the state’s requirements for vaccination.

The following data is reported on the 28 Oct update.  Active outbreaks have increased to 40 active in the community with 9 outbreaks in health facilities reported.   Daily positives are at 2199 through the report date.  The rolling average for positive results for individuals tested from 10/21-10/27 was 15.8%.  Parkview Hospital hospitalizations related to COVID is currently 62 cases while St Mary Corwin has 11 COVID case in their care.  Parkview reported occupancy at 216 while St Mary Corwin is reporting 69 for occupancy.  This leaves no available beds between the hospitals.

Reviewing CDC COVID data for Pueblo County, cases have increased 23% in the last week.  Positivity has shown an increase 0f 2% with testing increasing by 5%.  New hospitalizations increased was 0 due to capacity with ICU bed usage increasing ¾%.  Vaccinations for all county residents increased to 54.8% of residents with one dose and 50% fully vaccinated.
